PuremagicSituated at the foot of Slievemore Mountain on Achill Island; the Pure Magic Lodge is a hidden gem. Described by visitors as; “pure excellence”, “simply brilliant”, “amazing place”, “lovely and relaxing”; the Lodge is a haven for watersports enthusiasts everywhere.
When you need to get away from it all, it’s the place to be. Chilled and relaxing with a friendly continental vibe, the Pure Magic Lodge has 10 uniquely themed en-suite rooms. Single, double or family rooms; each one is tastefully and colourfully decorated to represent a country reminiscent of the travels of the staff.

In the communal areas there is a bar/lounge where you can cosy up by the open fire whilst sipping the finest of French wine and munching on delicious homemade pizzas. And when the mood takes you, you can join in the impromptu soiree with music often being played by local Gaelic or visiting European musicians. Next door is a pool room and a large dining room is adjacent, serving the best of homemade traditional dishes and French cuisine.

With winds blowing in along the Wild Atlantic Way, Achill is a kitesurfer’s paradise and what the Pure Magic Lodge is most renowned for is its watersports, in particular kitesurfing. With the Lodge being run by a team of experienced kitesurfers, and a lake in front and the sea less than 5 minutes away; would you really expect anything less!

For the novices or those wanting to improve, the Pure Magic team offer a variety of lessons from qualified instructors in kitesurfing, land boarding, power kiting and stand up paddle boarding. And for the more adventurous there are guided SUP safaris, and for those who don’t fancy lugging their kit around or if you’ve managed to bag that elusive ‘flight for 50p’, you can hire kite and SUP equipment direct from the Lodge.

From beach breaks to lakes, whatever you’re into on the water; surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkelling; you can do it all at Achill. And if watersports aren’t your thing, it’s not a problem, there’s still plenty to do. Why not tour the island by bike, take the low road for an easier ride or tackle the hills for a spot of mountain biking, but be warned, Achill has the highest sea cliffs in Europe!

Then there’s fishing, land yachting, horse riding, climbing…….. the list of activities is endless and the helpful Pure Magic team are always there to help arrange them for you or point you in the right direction.

But if you prefer a more relaxed approach, check out some of Achill’s stunning scenery on foot; the Deserted Village at Slievemore, the promontory forts or the amazingly beautiful and breath taking Keem Bay to name but a few.

In short Achill is one place that should be on your Bucket List and life at the Lodge is Pure Magic!

Facts & Figures
Achill Island in County Mayo is the largest of the islands that are peppered around the Irish coast. With a population of just 2,700, it’s probably safe to say that there are more sheep on the island than people!

Accessing the island from the mainland is easy; the ‘whale bone’ like structure of the Michael Davitt Bridge connects the island to the west coast of mainland Ireland.

The pace of life on Achill is slow and easy, shops are few and far between but the island does boast two night clubs!
